Easter Day

We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter this year. The night before, we read an Easter book with Gracelyn that talks about all the colors of an Easter basket and how they tell the story of the very first Easter. It was so amazing to see just how much she understood and during prayers that night, she thanked Jesus for dying on the cross....just precious! The girls woke up bright and early as usual the next morning and were so excited to follow the trail of Easter eggs to find their baskets. Even Addie knew what to do and crawled right to her basket!Then it was off to church for our traditional Easter pictures by the palm trees. We are so fortunate to have these beautiful palm trees in front of our church. They make for the perfect backdrop every year!Following church, we headed over for an Easter feast with the family full of homemade raviolis, cannolis, and biscottis...just one of the benefits of marrying into a big Italian family! The girls thoroughly enjoyed the egg hunt later that day. In years past, our sweet little Gracelyn has struggled in the competition of the egg hunt. She's been known to end up with very few eggs because she would take her precious time moving from one egg to the next, stopping to open each one to see what was inside. So, this year mommy and daddy had a pep talk with her that morning and encouraged her to move as fast and grab as many eggs as she could, then open them all up later. Needless to say, she followed our advice and ended up with a basket full of eggs! (and I only made her stop to pose for one picture...which helped, I'm sure!) Addison enjoyed the scene from her little blanket in the grass, but big sister was sweet enough to drop a few eggs off to her as she ran by!I'm so thankful for this time of year and the opportunity it brings to remember the sacrifice that was made for us all by the Savior, so that we could have eternal life with Him. What an amazing gift! I can't wait for our girls to truly understand just how much God loves them.
